I broke my back in a freak water-ski jumping incident on Memorial Day that year -- right before summer even began here in Minnesota. You can see my back brace in the photo above. Knowing my parents and siblings would drag me around to water-ski tournaments that I couldn't participate in, I decided to make the most of my summer and start a SnoCone business and sell at the events [a few years prior, I had built a stand for lemonade sales but soon realized EVERY child was selling lemonade!].
With my broken back, I requested the stand out of storage, created a logo thanks to WeeksEnd Signs, invested my savings in a SnoCone maker and hired my best buddy, Anthony, to help me sell. Our first gig was the Midwest Water-ski Regional 3-day competition. If you could see the entire photo above, you'd see the shade tent above me had the local Orthopedics office printed on the side--they donated the use of their tent for that event. Quite fitting, as I was a poster child for them that summer!
Since 2016, I have enjoyed serving many -- the top events on my list have been the 2017 & 2018 School Carnivals as well as the opportunity to sell at the U.S. Nationals Water-ski 7-day Competition in August 2018. I always make sure to come prepared, well-staffed, and able to add a lot of fun.
I look forward to adding your event to my Top Three!
Vito of Vito's Vittles
VIto's Vittles gives back to the community -- proceeds of every sale have gone to charities or youth programs: Midwest Junior development programs, St. Croix Valley Student programs, and also the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita when we served the area in 2018 -- just to name a few!
...especially when my adorable siblings are behind the counter. Caution: they LOVE to give extra SnoCone syrup. My friend Anthony has spent many hours in 100 degree weather, too, scooping his fair share of ice shavings. This crew is always willing to help out!
